Having a bad day!

So, have you ever had one of those days in which you just wish you could go back to bed and start over??? Well, that is how my day is going today.

For starters, but my kids and I are sick...Layna has had a fever since Sunday night/Monday morning and Brayden and I are battling your standard colds. The children are feeling lousy and so am I. At 9:15 this morning, I loaded up the kids in the car and we were off to the doctor. Well, on the way, I noticed a police car following me. I checked my speed...good, and I maintained the speed limit. Let me tell you my surprise when I saw the lights flickering in my rear view mirror. So, I pulled over. The cop came to my car and told me he pulled me over because my license plates are expired. What??? I honestly had no idea! He proceded to issue me a $75 ticket and a court date. UGH!!! There is some irony to all of this. When we were getting ready to leave, I thought to myself 'there is a license plate sticker in the basement. I should see whose car it goes to.' So, I went to the basement to discover that the sticker went to Matt's car. So, off we went! I honestly had NO IDEA that my plates are expired, and still don't understand what happened. I guess I am off to the DMV tomorrow to get this straightened out.

Then, we arrived at the doctor...and were there for TWO HOURS!!! They were a bit backed up and our appointment took forever because the doctor was seeing both kids and I had a ton of questions. Long story short...Layna has a double ear infection and Brayden is going in for an MRI of his brain next Wednesday. the pediatrician has been concerned about the size of Brayden's head...it is too small. The perplexing part is that developmentally Brayden seems right on track. The doctor recommended that we have his speech evaluated, but wasn't too concerned about it. So, we are headed for the MRI to make sure that everything looks ok. So, it's not that big of a deal, but knowing your child has to go through something like that is not easy. He will be sedated for the MRI, so at lease I know he won't be freaking out.

While at the doctor, both kiddos were acting up. Layna was overtired and not feeling well so very fussy and clingy. Brayden was just a two-year-old that has been at the doctor's office for 2 hours. He just wanted to leave, so was very unagreeable and frustrated. For the first time in public, I felt completely out of control of my children and felt like everyone was watching me and judging my parenting skills. I couldn't wait to get out of the office.

On the way home (a 7-10 minute drive) both kids fell asleep proving me theory that they were tired and sick of being at the doctor's office. So, it was off to bed for both of them which gave mommy some much needed quiet time to just relax and realize that it's not the end of the world...it just feels like it. Too much all at once. If I wasn't feeling so lousy, I probably would have handled all of it much better.

Of course, I can't stop worrying that we are going to have a house full of people on Saturday for Layna's party and I have a TON of things to get done in preparation. I soooo hope the kids are feeling better by then! My wonderful husband is going to see if he can get tomorrow off to help get ready for the party.

Thanks for reading my sob story. I usually try to keep the blog positive, but today I just needed to vent it out!

When it rains...it pours!

(Stay tuned for Layna's readoption photos from yesterday and a hilarious video clip of Brayden laughing)

I'm so sorry you all are sick! And all the other stuff on top of it made for a really rotten day. There's nothing like seeing a cop car's flashing lights in the rear0view mirror. :( Tomorrow will be better! BTW, Danny's birthday party is on Sunday. Happy b-day to all our kids! (Layna, Emma and Daniel)

Can't wait to see pictures of the party.

BTW...Brayden and Malayna were also tagged by Hannah and Tessa.

I tried so hard to find 10 blog friends to tag that weren't already tagged, but we're just not that popular!!! :)

I'm sorry you had such a bad. Those suck. And it's even worse when others cannot take a moment to show a little concern or empathy (police officer, parents staring at you, etc.). Glad you're feeling better.
