AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...I am SOOOOO frustrated!

WARNING - THIS IS A VENTING POST!!!!!!! THERE WILL BE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS, OVERREACTION AND FRUSTRATION TO FOLLOW!!!

So, Layna spiked a 102 fever this afternoon!!! Haven't we already had our fair share of sickness this season? When does it give? What am I doing wrong? Do we need to lock ourselves in our home and not let anyone else in? How do I keep my kids healthy?

I should be sitting here feeling sorry for my poor sick daughter (which I do), but instead, I can't help but be extremely frustrated with how sick we have been since November. We have had more sick days than well days in the last month and a half and I just don't know what I am doing wrong. Thankfully, we have good insurance, but how many more copays do we have to pay during the holiday season! We are well over $200 in doctor visit copays and prescription copays in the last month. I am giving my kids vitamins...we wash hands like crazy...I feed them a fairly well balanced diet...I am feeling so inadequate as a mom right now. I am supposed to protect my children and make them feel safe. How can they feel safe and happy when they feel miserable all the time.

Ok...I feel a little bit better. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Both kiddos are sleeping right now, and I am afraid of what will be when they wake up. Scratch that...Layna is crying...gotta go...

I know it's frustrating, but I highly doubt that it's anything you are doing or not doing. I hope that she feels better and that no one else gets sick.

I don' tthink you are doing anything you shouldn't be...you are a good mom, and your frustrations are WELL understood. I know I've suggested it before, but have you considered going down the probiotic road I used with Henry? I was desperate after months of the same. It can't hurt.... :)

Amy,

I know it's tough, but you are not doing anything wrong. Your children get sick, you want to take care of them, and you want them to be healthy. All parents want the same.

I don't know how much "exposure" Layna and Brayden have to other kids (read "germs, germs, germs") on a day-to-day basis, but I think that could have something to do with it. Brayden and Layna may be more sensitive to viruses and bacteria because they aren't exposed to them as frequently which would allow them to build up a tolerance or the antiviruses.

Both my wife and I work so Evan is in daycare everyday and is exposed to a lot of "stuff" and has caught his fair share of the sick bugs - pink eye, strep throat, fever, ear infections, respiration infection. Overall, it's part of the process of raising little ones, but I can totally understand your frustration. We had a time last year where we took Evan to the clinic three times in a week - double ear infection and respiratory infection. We thought it would never end.

Hang in there!

MY TURN TO VENT...Ok So Jagger had a 104 fever last THUR..they gave him a 3 day Antibiotic when we took him in on THUR...so we paid $20 and they charged our insurance $176....so I can deal with that...what I can't deal with is that he did not eat or sleep ALL WEEKEND and when I took him back on MONDAY..she could not find anything wrong although he was sceaming his head off...she said its a virus and it just has to wear off...so I paid another $20 and my insureance paid another $176....to find out NOTHING...AHHHHH

Ok I feel better now

Oh sweetie I'm sorry. That just sucks. It's nothing you are doing or not doing. I am praying that they can get better and stay better for alittle while. Maybe she wasn't all the way better yet. Toby did that once or twice. Got sick again right after he went off the antibiotic...he really wasn't sick again just not better yet.

Oh no!! Not again. No wonder you're so frustrated. And poor Brayden and Layna. It stinks to be sick that much. I hope that you can get it figured out soon--I'm sure it's nothing that you're doing. Their little immune systems must just be prone to more sickness. Hopefully, they will build up lots of tolerances this year and be healthy from here on out. Andrew had a rough winter last year--I have him on a super-cocktail every day. So far, so good but it's this really cold weather that usually does him in so we'll see.
